Soya Mince: high benefits like protein
What is mince soya?
Mince soybeans are a by-product of soy flour, which is obtained after the removal of soybean oil. It is a relatively economical alternative source of protein, so much so that it can compete with the meat itself. It cooks quickly and -because it is packed completely dried- it is kept on the shelf for a long time. Cooked, soy mince meat is quite reminiscent of minced meat due to its texture, while with the appropriate flavor additives (spices, aromatics, etc.) it is included in all recipes where regular minced meat would be included.

Target Audience?
Mince soybeans have been very popular with vegans and vegetarians for several decades, but in recent years it has been used by the general public who – while not having specific dietary restrictions – are aware of what it has to do with reducing meat consumption. Simply put, soy mince meat is for everyone: like potatoes and aubergines (also vegan foods). Now if you like it, it has to do with your personal tastes.
Does it have nutritional benefits?
Mince soy is considered a very good source of protein, which – as much as it is – as an ingredient is a challenge for vegans and vegetarians (and those who avoid meat). Compared to red meat and fatty dairy, it provides protein without the high cholesterol. It is also high in beneficial amino acids, vitamin B, iron and magnesium. In general, as not all yogurts are the same, not all soybeans on the market are as healthy. I recommend that you always buy organic minced soy, without added sugar, salt, lactose and gluten. And of course, just as you do not eat minced meat every day, so minced soy is not for every day. Everything in good measure.

How is it cooked?
There are various soybeans on the market and each package has instructions on how to make it, so that it is ready to be included in your favorite minced meat recipes. In general, because soy mince meat is a dehydrated product, it needs hydration before it is cooked, one way or another. Some minced meat needs 10 minutes of boiling in water and then straining and rinsing, while for others a few minutes of soaking in hot water before draining is enough to cook them. From there, you can make any recipe with minced meat you want.
